Our focus: Invest in residential property with upside potential

Management-owned Deutsche Zinshaus Gesellschaft is a medium-sized property company based in Germany investing in residential properties within prime regional locations, looking for investment opportunities for long-term ownership.

The company has purchased more than 330 properties with over 4,500 residential and commercial units since 2010. The property portfolio is mainly located in Giessen, Marburg, Kassel, Limburg and Fulda, as well as the Rhine-Main and Rhine-Ruhr region.

The current property portfolio has an attractive and stable return with a balanced risk benefit. The strategy for growth is to optimize the existing residential portfolio through targeted investments and increase the portfolio to over 6,000 residential units in the medium term.

Our investment focus lies on residential properties with upside potential in regional markets of Germany. We invest in apartments, residential and commercial properties in cities with more than 50,000 residents in Germany. We mainly acquire properties that have vacancies at the time of purchase, have a maintenance backlog or offer development potential.

Moritz Kraneis – Managing Partner


Business graduate Moritz Kraneis is Managing Partner of Deutsche Zinshaus. Following his apprenticeship at private bankers Hauck & Aufhäuser and his degree specialising in financing and accounting, he began his career with Ernst & Young Real Estate. A few years later he moved to Madison Capital Management Ltd, where he was responsible for due diligence and valuation of German property funds. His role within the company is property acquisition, financial structuring of portfolios and the customer relationship management with family offices and private banks.

Philipp Kraneis – Managing Partner


Philipp Kraneis is Managing Partner of Deutsche Zinshaus. Following his apprenticeship as property specialist, he worked for various international property advisors, such as Christie & Co GmbH, where he was responsible for the transaction business as Head of investment in Germany and CEE for more than 15 years. In early 2014, he went to work for the global advisory company CBRE, where he was responsible for hotel transactions as Head of Transactions Germany & CEE. During his career, he has successfully advised on transactions with a total volume of more than €2.6 billion. His role within the company is the acquisition and sale of property, along with the selection of external service providers involved in the due diligence process.

Christian Motter


Business graduate Christian Motter, M.B.L.-HSG, was appointed to the management of Deutsche Zinshaus in 2010. He is responsible for the company’s Luxembourg office, as well as the supervision of fond and asset managers. He studied business with a specialisation in property economics, as well as finance and banking, and supplemented this programme with a Masters degree in European and International Business Law. Parallel to his Masters degree, Christian Motter began his career with BHF Bank in the field of leveraged finance. He later moved to Commerzbank to the corporate finance advisory department, where alongside his specialisation in leveraged finance, he also took on the task of advising clients in issues of corporate finance.

Lars Greve


Business graduate Lars Greve worked for various international advisory companies before joining Deutsche Zinshaus as Managing Director in 2011. Following his business degree, he began working for Arthur Andersen in Frankfurt in 1999, and later moved to Ernst & Young in the field of property consultancy. Lars specialises in the audit of distressed properties, as well as property financing. In 2005 he took over the management of a property management company located in Leipzig. In 2011, this became WEVATO GmbH – Deutsche Zinshaus’s portfolio property manager. Lars has supported Deutsche Zinshaus as an external advisor since the founding and was appointed Managing Director in 2011. He is responsible for property management and due diligence, as well as the preparation of subsequent lettings concepts.

Our Advisory Board

Deutsche Zinshaus appointed an advisory board in 2011, staffed with well-known experts from the banking and real estate sector. Their role is to advise the management board on their strategic growth plan.

Norman Roesch has more than 25 years experience in the world of national and international high finance and banking and currently works for Credit Suisse as an ambassador for family offices in Germany. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, working in the equity and wealth management departments for over 16 years. He studied economics and law in Frankfurt am Main and Freiburg im Breisgau.

Walter Huber, born in 1947, was on the board of Bethmann Bank for 23 years and held a leading role with the private bank for almost 30 years. He began his career as a lawyer in Munich and shortly afterwards switched to the banking sector, initially in the USA. He went on to work in Great Britain and Germany, namely with Westfalenbank, Hypobank and Bankhaus Maffei, now Bethmann Bank. Advising high net worth private clients, as well as the development of tailor-made solutions for clients’ economic requirements were an integral part of his work. Walter has more than 35 years experience in the financial and banking world.

Professor Andreas Steyer is Chairman of DEMIRE Deutsche Mittelstand Real Estate AG and was appointed honorary professor of the Jade University in Oldenburg in 2012. Prior to this, Andreas Steyer was Head of Real Estate with Österreichische Volksbanken AG, a leading financial group in Austria and Management Spokesman of the subsidiary company VB Real Estate Services GmbH. Alongside numerous positions of responsibility with advisory companies and accountants, Andreas also worked as CFO of Deka Immobilien GmbH. He has more than 20 years experience in the property and banking sector.
